[00:00:00] Welcome to another episode of Transformation Professionals, sponsored by CXOTransform.

[00:00:09] Crafted to enhance the strategic acumen of ambitious managers, leaders and consultants,

[00:00:13] we hope you enjoy this episode about the behavior behind transformation.

    [00:00:18] Here's Rob Llewellyn.

[00:00:22] The term transformation has become more than just a buzzword, it's vital for survival

    [00:00:27] and success.

[00:00:29] Today we delve deep into the essence of transformation, the challenges it presents and the mindset

[00:00:34] required to navigate it effectively.

[00:00:38] Transformation isn't just about adapting to change, it's about leading it.

[00:00:43] It's about responding to disruption, creating sustainable value and fulfilling your organization's

    [00:00:49] purpose.

[00:00:51] Yet transformation is a concept that many talk about but few truly understand or implement

    [00:00:56] effectively.

[00:00:57] During our journey today we'll explore why mastering the art of transformation is critical

[00:01:01] and what it means to truly embed transformational habits within your organization.

[00:01:07] At the core of any significant shift lies the need to balance short and medium term objectives

[00:01:13] with the long term vision.

[00:01:16] CEOs and leaders are increasingly pressured to not only ensure the smooth running of their

[00:01:21] businesses but to continuously reinvent and enhance their business models and customer

    [00:01:27] experiences.

[00:01:29] This requires a shift in mindset, not just among the leadership teams but across the

    [00:01:34] entire organization.

[00:01:36] Creating a culture that breathes transformation is essential but this is easier said than

    [00:01:42] done.

[00:01:43] There's no escaping the fact that confusion often lies in the difference between goals

    [00:01:47] and objectives.

[00:01:49] Goals being broader set the direction while objectives are the specific steps taken to

    [00:01:55] achieve these goals.

[00:01:57] For instance wanting to be a market disruptor is a goal, it's an ambitious vision for

    [00:02:03] the future.

[00:02:04] However aiming to increase annual profits by a specific percentage is an objective,

[00:02:09] a measurable step towards achieving that broader goal.

[00:02:13] Let's consider two potential futures for your company.

[00:02:17] One where current practices continue, marred by inefficiencies and resistance to change,

[00:02:22] leading to stagnation or decline.

[00:02:25] The other a future shaped by the adoption of new habits and systems geared towards

[00:02:30] achieving transformational objectives and goals.

[00:02:34] This version sees your company not just surviving but thriving, possibly introducing

[00:02:39] new disruptive models into the market.

[00:02:42] The distinction between these futures lies in the habits formed within your organization.

[00:02:47] A Stephen Covey taught us in the seven habits of highly effective people beginning with

[00:02:52] the end in mind sets the foundation for achieving our goals.

[00:02:57] It's about envisioning what success looks like and then mapping out the objectives

[00:03:01] and habits needed to get there.

[00:03:04] A common misconception is that having a goal for transformation is enough.

[00:03:09] However goals without actionable objectives and the right systems and habits to support

[00:03:13] them are unlikely to lead to success.

[00:03:17] Culture defined by the behaviors and habits within an organization plays a critical role

    [00:03:21] in transformation.

[00:03:23] It's the daily decisions we make and the actions we take that collectively determine

    [00:03:27] our path.

[00:03:28] A habit is a behavior that's become automatic through regular practice.

[00:03:33] For companies aspiring to transform, fostering habits that support digital economy success

    [00:03:39] is crucial.

[00:03:41] Conversely, failing to evolve these habits can render a company obsolete in the face of change.

[00:03:47] The reality for many companies professing to be innovative and transformational is far

    [00:03:51] from the truth.

[00:03:53] Proclaiming innovation doesn't make it so, especially when the evidence of genuine

    [00:03:57] transformation is lacking.

[00:04:01] Aside from profitability, it's the processes, systems and most importantly the habits

[00:04:06] within an organization that dictate the success or failure of its transformation goals.

[00:04:12] For transformation to be more than just a word, it requires a deep meaningful shift in how

    [00:04:18] we think and act.

[00:04:19] It's about overcoming limiting beliefs that hold us back, adopting new ways of working

[00:04:24] and fostering a culture that's truly conducive to change.

[00:04:29] As we wrap up, it's clear that transformation is not merely a strategic goal but a continuous

[00:04:35] journey of adaptation and growth.

[00:04:38] The key to navigating this journey successfully is understanding the difference between goals

[00:04:43] and objectives, fostering the right mindset and culture and most importantly cultivating

[00:04:49] habits that align with your transformational vision.

[00:04:53] For leaders looking to steer their organizations towards success in the digital economy,

[00:04:58] remember transformation is less about the goals you set and more about the objectives

[00:05:04] you achieve and the habits you foster along the way.

[00:05:07] It's a challenging path but one that's essential for survival and growth in today's ever-changing

    [00:05:12] world.

[00:05:14] Thank you for joining me.

[00:05:16] Let's move forward with intention, embracing the habits and actions that will lead us

    [00:05:20] to our desired future.
